So what’s up with all these ads about making money with Twitter? Well, I signed up with one just to see what they are all about. It turns out, it’s pretty interesting.
(I’m sidetracking from what I normally write about but it relates)
There’s a way to set up a number of things so that you can basically put automated posts up on Twitter. It does a few every hour. There’s another tool out there to auto-follow people who are talking about specific things. If you combine all of that together, then yes – I believe you can make some money using Twitter. You can build up an audience of followers and if you push the right thing to them, you will get the 1-2% click through rate and from there, some people will click on the right links for you (affiliate marketing). You’ll need a lot of followers though.
There are some problems with this, though. First, it seems like a lot (and I mean a lot) of people are doing this. If you post about a hot topic or a certain keyword, all of a sudden you’ve got a number of people following you. They look real and a certain percentage of them really are (which is good) but many (at least half for sure) are people with accounts that auto-follow you. I think their hope is that you follow them.
So, with anything on the Web, it seems that people have found a way to spam it. That’s why you need the high number of followers in order to get any results.
I think if you take a more conservative approach to this system, this can actually work really well (here’s where I think this relates to what I’m doing). You’d want to set up these accounts so that they just focus on your specific niche. You can also set up WordPress to post the title of your latest posts to Twitter – so you’d do that, too. You’ll them gain followers of your niche / keyword and if you’re publishing good, unique information, then you’ll get true, solid clickthroughs.
Twitter has an open API, which means that people can write applications and websites that work with it. That’s very good. What we’re seeing now is just the start. People are pretty creative and we’ll see more and more tools coming out all the time. Within those tools, there will be some that will be amazing or if you combine a number of them, you can do amazing things. For example, I found a search engine yesterday that gets results from sites like Twitter, Facebook and Flickr. Their aim is to get real-time results from every day people out there posting stuff. Mobile phones have more and more applications on them, making all of this even more viable.
So my advice is get on board. Twitter and tools for Twitter are only going to improve. There’s a real audience there. Find out more about how to use Twitter on autopilot and make money online.

Update: Here’s an article about how too many un-follows may put your account into jeopardy. So, be careful!

I don’t necessarilly agree with everything you’ve written here, but it was still an interesting and actually quite enlightening read. Thanks.
